Other Projects
Psukim/ Torah Verses
Verses from the Torah can be a powerful educational tool in the home. Similarly, quotes from Mishnah, Talmud, or later sefarim have a special effect when written in script. Confer with Dov for a suggestion.
Ketubot/ Wedding Contracts
Dov has written many ketubot on parchment that have previously, or subsequently, been illuminated .
Family Trees
Family trees - written in script on parchment - are striking and meaningful, and will serve as an heirloom for generations.
Besides working as a sofer, Rabbi Laimon has taught for years at the Pardes Institute for Jewish Studies, and Yakar - a Center for Jewish Culture and Creativity, both in Jerusalem. He also teaches private students and groups in his home.
Rabbi Laimon's extensive experience in the world of classical Jewish texts, complemented by an up-to-date interest in American/European scholarly and popular cultures puts him in a unique and successful position for meeting and connecting with students of all backgrounds.
Tourists and local Jerusalemites are welcome to arrange a single session or a course; to see the sofer at work; to have a lesson learning how to write with a quill on parchment; and to have a taste of the depth of how Jewish tradition understands what letters are really all about.
A visit with Dov may just give your trip to Israel the element of depth it needs, for you and your family.
No previous knowledge necessary; you don't even need to have neat handwriting!
Dov has an eager willingness to share this beautiful and meaningful part of our common Jewish heritage with all his visitors.
