Mezuza, Tefillin, Megillah, Other Projects

Dov offers all of the traditional work of sofrim with a very high level of craftsmanship  and uncompromising commitment to every detail of Kashrut.

  • Mezuzuah 15cm/ 5 7/8 inches. (notice the coloration of the parchment reflecting light and dark spots of the animal's hide.)

Mezuzah

Each mezuzah is hand-written; each letter must be perfectly formed before going on to the next. The halacha disallows any repairs in the middle of the text.

The writing of each mezuzah is preceeded by a spoken meditation that commits the Sofer to writing selflessly for the 'Kedusha' (holiness) of the Mitzvah and for the 'Kedusha' of the names of G-d in the text.

Tefillin and Megillot

Dov  writes the parchments that are the essence of the tefillin, as well as Megillat Esther for Purim, Shir HaShirim (Pesach),Koheles (Sukkot), Yonah (Yom Kippur), Eicha (Tisha B'Av).

Chanukah

A special project for Chanukah!

Once the menorah has been lit, its light is 'kadosh'/ holy, and may not be used, for example, to read by, or to count  coins by. The statement 'HaNairos Halalu", printed in the siddur. proclaims the holiness of the Chanuka lights and the prohibition of using their light.

"HaNairos Halalu Kodesh Haim" /        "These Lights are Holy" - written in script on parchment, placed by the menorah, is an invaluable reminder of the depth and holiness of the Chanuka lights.

There are three options:
 1. The four word statement: "HaNairos Halalu Kodesh Haim."

 2. The full text of "HaNairos Halalu."

 3. The three brachot / blessings for lighting the menorah, followed by the full text of"HaNairos Halalu."

"Aishes Chayil"/ A Woman of Valor

The beautiful words of King Solomon, recited every Friday night at the Shabbos table, expertly scripted in 22 lines.
